The mission of The Westerners, a FIRST\u00ae Robotics Competition team, is to give everyone an opportunity in cultivating a legacy of innovation. Our students and adult mentors work together to learn and apply real-life multi-disciplinary skills, fundamental engineering techniques, and cutting-edge technologies through a creative design process within a culture of personal and team excellence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, we strictly maintain a goal of never requiring students to pay any expenses to compete, travel, and be a part of the team. The cost of running a FIRST Robotics team is around $10,000 to just register for the competition. When you add travel and supply costs among others, that results in a huge sum of money needed. While we do fundraise, it is very difficult for us to raise the entire amount, which is why we seek sponsors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In return for sponsoring our team, companies receive advertisement through their logos on our team merchandise and exposure at FIRST competitions, with thousands of people watching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
